During the fiscal year of 1969 and 1970, a need to have an Omega Psi Phi Fraternity chapter in Franklin Virginia was realized.  Therefore, plans were made and action was taken to establish Lambda Nu Chapter.  Brother Melvin Washington, the third District Supervisor at that time, met with a group of interested brothers at Johnson Funeral Home in Franklin on Sunday Evening, June 1, 1970. This marked the Charter date for Lambda Nu Chapter.  We are extremely proud of the services we provide to the counties of Greensville, Isle of Wight, Southampton, Surry, Sussex and the cities of Franklin and Smithfield.  In partnership with the Franklin Department of Parks and Recreation, we have sponsored a Little League baseball team for the past fifteen years. Lambda Nu has been an Adopt-A-Street (South St.) participant for approximately ten (10) years.  Since its chartering, the Chapter has initiated numerous aggressive young men.  Many have gone forward to enhance their respective communities and many have fallen by the wayside.  Through the application of MANHOOD, SCHOLARSHIP, PERSERVERENCE AND UPLIFT differences are made.  These are the principles that we hold dear to our hearts as we focus on service to mankind and God.
